About Skegness Academy
Skegness Academy is a secondary school that Ofsted currently rates as Requires Improvement overall, a judgement it carried over from its previous inspection in 2020. However, the most recent graded inspection in December 2023 tells a more nuanced story. While the overall effectiveness remains Requires Improvement, and behaviour and attitudes are also rated Requires Improvement, three of the five individual categories were judged Good: sixth-form provision, personal development, and leadership and management. The most telling academic metric is the school's Progress 8 score of -0.64, which is classified as 'well below average' nationally. This means that, on average, pupils achieved nearly two-thirds of a grade less per subject in their GCSEs than students with similar starting points across England. In the local authority of Lincolnshire, where the average Progress 8 score is -0.06, this places the academy 45th out of 57 similar state schools, and 11th out of 12 in the East Lindsey district.
The school's Attainment 8 score sits at 28.4, and only 28.9% of pupils achieved a grade 5 or above in both English and maths. The EBacc entry rate is very low at 2.6%, and no pupils entered the full EBacc combination. For the small sixth form of 16 students, the average points per entry was 14.41, which equates to a grade of E+, and the value-added score of -0.54 is considered average. Parent feedback, gathered through Ofsted's Parent View between September 2024 and September 2025, shows that 93% of the 115 respondents would recommend the school. Strong majorities agreed that their child is happy (90% combined strongly agree/agree) and feels safe (96%). However, only 24% agreed that bullying is dealt with quickly and effectively, though 59% said the question was not applicable to them.
Skegness Academy is a mixed, non-denominational state secondary for pupils aged 11 to 19, with a current roll of 932 against a capacity of 1340. It is oversubscribed for Year 7 entry in 2025/26, receiving 203 applications for 176 places, with 121 first-preference offers made. A very high 64.4% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, well above the national average. The school has a broad range of SEND provisions, including support for autistic spectrum disorder, speech and language communication needs, and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Facilities include a sixth form centre, science labs, music rooms, an astro turf, and a chapel. Extracurricular options cover the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, orchestra, choir, and Young Enterprise. This is a school that has clear areas for improvement in core academic outcomes but where parents report high levels of happiness and safety, and where leadership and sixth-form provision have been recognised as Good.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
