Wilthorpe Primary School
About Wilthorpe Primary School
Wilthorpe Primary School has been rated Good across the board in its most recent Ofsted inspection, a notable improvement from its previous Requires Improvement rating. The March 2024 inspection gave the school Good marks for every category: overall effectiveness, quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. This is a significant turnaround from September 2021, when the school was rated Requires Improvement overall, with Quality of Education and Leadership and Management both graded as Requires Improvement. The school serves 389 pupils aged 3 to 11 in Barnsley, with a capacity of 420. Just over a fifth of pupils (20.9 per cent) are eligible for free school meals, which is slightly above the national average. The headteacher is Cathryn Egginton, who has overseen this improvement journey.
