About Wadworth Primary School
Wadworth Primary School is a state primary for mixed-gender pupils aged 4 to 11, located in the Doncaster local authority area. Within Doncaster, it ranks 79th out of 98 primary schools, placing it in the bottom half of the local league table. The top-performing peers in the area include Crookesbroom Primary Academy, St Oswald's CofE Academy, and Arksey Primary School, all of which sit well above Wadworth in the rankings. The nearest school rated Outstanding by Ofsted is Hill Top Academy, about 3.9 kilometres away. Headteacher Emma Cave leads a school with 141 pupils against a capacity of 210, meaning there is room for growth. The school is oversubscribed for the 2025/26 academic year, with 35 applications for 20 places and 15 first-preference offers, giving an oversubscription ratio of 1.75. Seventeen per cent of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is close to the national average for primary schools.
Academically, Wadworth's most recent Ofsted inspection in June 2025 judged the school as Good across all areas, including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. This is a notable improvement from its previous inspection in February 2023, when the school was rated Requires Improvement overall. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 results, 42 per cent of pupils met the expected standard in reading, writing, and maths combined, which is below the Doncaster local authority average of 61 per cent. Reading scores were stronger, with 58 per cent reaching the expected standard and 32 per cent achieving a higher standard. In maths, 47 per cent met the expected standard, and 26 per cent reached the higher standard. Writing saw 63 per cent at the expected level, but no pupils achieved the higher standard. The school ranks in the bottom 50 nationally for its combined KS2 score.
Parent feedback from the Parent View survey, based on 42 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025, is overwhelmingly positive. Ninety-eight per cent of parents would recommend the school. Strong majorities agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy (95 per cent), feels safe (97 per cent), and that the school has high expectations (91 per cent). The school offers a range of facilities including a library, ICT suite, forest school, sensory room, music rooms, and art studios. Sports on offer include tennis, athletics, swimming, dance, cricket, and rounders, while clubs include choir, book club, science club, art club, and chess. The school provides SEND support for moderate learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, and speech, language and communication needs, though no parents responded to the SEND-specific question in the survey. This is a school that has turned around its Ofsted rating and enjoys strong parental satisfaction, but its academic outcomes lag behind the local average, so it may suit families who prioritise pastoral care and a broad range of activities over top-tier exam results.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
