About Victoria Primary School
Victoria Primary School in Nottingham is a state primary for children aged 3 to 11 that currently serves 303 pupils against a capacity of 401, meaning it has around a quarter of its places unfilled. That spare capacity is notable given the school’s intake profile: 48.1% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, well above the national average and a clear signal that the school serves a community with significant economic disadvantage. Despite that, demand is strong. For the 2025/26 reception intake, the school received 47 applications for just 21 places, an oversubscription ratio of 2.24 to one. Seventeen of those applications were first preferences, and all 17 received offers, suggesting that while the school is popular, it’s not yet so oversubscribed that local families are routinely turned away. The school is mixed, non-religious, and led by headteacher Anna Froggatt. It also has a nursery provision, which will appeal to families looking for continuity from early years through to Year 6.
Academically, Victoria Primary’s most recent Key Stage 2 results from 2023/24 show a mixed picture. Just 35% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared with the Nottingham local authority average of 60%. That places the school 70th out of 72 primary schools in the city, in the bottom 50 nationally. Individual subject scores tell a slightly more nuanced story: the average scaled scores in reading and maths were both 103, which is exactly the national benchmark, and 56% of pupils met the expected standard in writing. However, the proportion reaching the higher standard in any subject was low — 19% in maths, 10% in writing, and just 8% in reading. In its most recent Ofsted inspection in January 2025, the school was judged Good overall, with personal development rated Outstanding. Behaviour and attitudes, quality of education, and leadership and management were all rated Good, while early years provision also held at Good.
The school offers a solid range of facilities including a library, playing fields, music rooms, art studios, a gymnasium and an ICT suite, plus a dining hall. Sports provision covers football, athletics, swimming, dance, tennis, netball and cricket, and there are clubs in drama, coding, eco club, choir and book club. For families with children who have special educational needs, the SEND support is broad, covering dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties, social and emotional mental health, speech and language needs, hearing and visual impairments, physical disabilities and autistic spectrum disorder. Parent View responses from 18 families between September 2024 and September 2025 were generally positive: 78% would recommend the school, and 83% agreed or strongly agreed that their child does well there. The school suits families who value a strong personal development focus and a wide range of enrichment activities, and who are comfortable with academic results that sit below the local average but reflect the challenges of a high-deprivation intake.

The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
