About The Clinton Church of England Primary School

Eighty per cent of parents who responded to the Ofsted Parent View survey would recommend The Clinton Church of England Primary School, a small state primary in Torridge, Devon. That figure comes from 15 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025. The school is also oversubscribed for Reception places in the 2025/26 academic year, with nine first-preference applications for nine places and a total of ten applications overall — an oversubscription ratio of 1.11. Parent responses paint a mixed picture, though. While 87 per cent of respondents strongly agreed or agreed that their child is happy, and 87 per cent felt their child is safe, only 33 per cent agreed that concerns are dealt with properly, and 27 per cent disagreed. The school’s most recent Ofsted inspection, in July 2025, rated it Inadequate overall, a downgrade from its previous Requires Improvement rating in November 2022. Leadership and management and quality of education were both judged Inadequate, while behaviour, personal development and early years provision were all Requires Improvement.
