About St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary School
St Margaret Clitherow Catholic Primary School is a state-funded Roman Catholic primary in the London Borough of Greenwich, and it ranks 6th out of 57 primary schools in the local authority. That puts it comfortably in the top 10 per cent of Greenwich primaries, with a ranking score of 82 based on the proportion of pupils reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths. The three schools immediately above it in the local league table are St Mary's Catholic Primary School, Eltham Church of England Primary School and Our Lady of Grace Catholic Primary School, all scoring between 85 and 87. The school is led by headteacher Dawn Webb and has 183 pupils on roll, well below its capacity of 262, which suggests there is room for growth. It is a mixed-gender primary for children aged 3 to 11, with a nursery provision, and 24.3 per cent of pupils are eligible for free school meals, which is slightly above the national average for primary schools.
Academically, the school performs well above the Greenwich average. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, 82 per cent of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared with a local authority average of 71 per cent. Reading and writing were particular strengths: 93 per cent of pupils met the expected standard in reading and 96 per cent in writing. The average scaled scores were 106 in reading and 105 in maths, both above the national benchmark of 100. At the higher standard, 7 per cent of pupils achieved the higher combined score, with 32 per cent reaching the higher standard in reading and 25 per cent in both maths and writing. The school's most recent Ofsted inspection, in November 2022, rated it Good overall, with behaviour and attitudes judged Outstanding. The early years provision, quality of education, personal development, and leadership and management were all rated Good. The previous inspection in 2010 had also rated the school Good overall.
The school is oversubscribed for 2025/26, with 44 applications for 13 places and all 13 first-preference applicants receiving offers, giving an oversubscription ratio of 3.38. Facilities include a dining hall, ICT suite, gymnasium, sports hall, sensory room and chapel, and the school offers clubs such as art, coding, book club and chess, plus sports including cricket, football, athletics, dance and gymnastics. The school's SEND provisions cover moderate and severe learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, multi-sensory impairment and autistic spectrum disorder. Parent View responses from 11 parents between September 2024 and September 2025 were overwhelmingly positive: 100 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy and feels safe, and 91 per cent would recommend the school. However, a minority of parents expressed concerns about how concerns are dealt with and the range of clubs and activities. This is a strong, faith-based local school that suits families who value academic attainment, good behaviour and a supportive Catholic ethos within a tight-knit community.

The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
