About Newcroft Primary Academy

Newcroft Primary Academy sits within the Leicestershire local authority, where it is one of only eight primary schools currently rated Outstanding by Ofsted. In the Charnwood borough specifically, the school ranks 12th out of 45 primary schools based on the proportion of pupils reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, placing it comfortably in the top 25 per cent locally. Its nearest Outstanding-rated neighbour is Booth Wood Academy, 2.9 km away, while the top-performing peers in the area include Swithland St Leonard's Church of England Primary School, Long Whatton Church of England Primary School and Community Centre, and Brocks Hill Primary School. Headteacher Sara Aukland leads a school that is oversubscribed: for the 2025/26 intake, 123 families applied for 57 places, and all 57 first-preference applicants were offered a spot, giving an oversubscription ratio of 2.16.

Academically, Newcroft delivers results that sit well above the local average. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, 76 per cent of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared with a Leicestershire average of 62 per cent. The school’s average maths score of 109 and reading score of 106 are both strong, and 52 per cent of pupils achieved the higher standard in maths. In its most recent Ofsted inspection in May 2025, the school received Outstanding grades across every category judged: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. This marks a continuation of the Outstanding rating it has held since its previous inspection in 2014. Parent feedback is overwhelmingly positive: 96 per cent of respondents to the Parent View survey would recommend the school, and 97 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy there.

The school offers a broad range of facilities including a sports hall, gymnasium, library, art studios, playing fields, a sensory room, and a forest school. Sports on offer include athletics, swimming, netball, cricket, and dance, while clubs range from choir and gardening to coding and eco club. The school’s SEND provisions cover specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, and autistic spectrum disorder. Among parents whose children have SEND, 88 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that the school provides the support needed. With nursery provision on site and a capacity of 420 pupils (currently 396 on roll), Newcroft is a well-regarded choice for families in the Charnwood area who value strong academic outcomes and a school that is clearly in demand locally.

No catchment data published for this school

The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.

⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
