About Napier Community Primary and Nursery Academy

Parents at Napier Community Primary and Nursery Academy are overwhelmingly positive about their experience, with 88% of respondents to the most recent Parent View survey saying they would recommend the school. That survey, which ran between September 2024 and September 2025 and gathered 50 responses, shows particularly strong satisfaction around pupil happiness and safety: 92% of parents agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy, and the same proportion felt their child is safe. The school is also clearly popular among prospective families. For its 2025/26 reception intake, Napier received 172 applications for 60 places, giving an oversubscription ratio of 2.87. Of those, 56 were first-preference applications, and all 56 received an offer. Parents also reported feeling well informed, with 86% agreeing the school makes them aware of what their child will learn, and 82% agreeing that the school lets them know how their child is doing.

Academically, Napier is a strong performer within Medway. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, 78% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, well above the local authority average of 62%. That result places the school 6th out of 55 primary schools in Medway, putting it in the top 25% nationally. Reading is a particular strength: the average reading score was 110, with 60% of pupils reaching the higher standard. Maths also performed well, with an average score of 107 and 35% achieving the higher standard. Writing at the higher standard was more challenging, with just 4% reaching that level. The school’s most recent graded Ofsted inspection, in December 2019, rated it Good overall, with Good across all categories including quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. A subsequent ungraded inspection in November 2024 confirmed the school has improved significantly since then.

Napier is a large primary with 620 pupils on roll, operating very close to its capacity of 630. It has a nursery provision for children from age three, and the school caters for a diverse range of needs: its SEND register includes support for autistic spectrum disorder, speech and language communication needs, hearing and visual impairments, and physical disabilities, among others. Around 28% of Parent View respondents said their child has SEND, and 79% of those agreed the school gives them the support they need. The school’s facilities are generous for a state primary, including a library, art studios, music rooms, a sports hall, playing fields, and a forest school. Clubs on offer include film, science and drama, while sports include football, rounders, cross country and tennis. With its strong academic results, high parental satisfaction and clear oversubscription, Napier is a school that suits families looking for a well-regarded community primary with a broad range of provision and a track record of improvement.

The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.

⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
