About Malvern Wells CofE Primary School

Malvern Wells CofE Primary School has turned a corner. In its most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out in 2023, the school was rated Good overall, a clear improvement on its previous inspection in 2019 when it was judged to require improvement. The turnaround is consistent across every category now rated Good: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. That said, the most telling academic metric is the proportion of pupils reaching the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined at Key Stage 2. At 47%, this figure falls below the local authority average of 61% for similar schools, and it places the school in the bottom half of primary schools nationally. The picture is more mixed when you look at individual subjects: 71% of pupils met the expected standard in reading, and 76% did so in writing, but maths was weaker, with only 47% reaching that benchmark.
