About Lutton St Nicholas Primary Academy
Lutton St Nicholas Primary Academy received a Requires Improvement rating from Ofsted in its most recent graded inspection in January 2025, a step down from the Good rating it had held since its previous inspection in 2016. The school’s academic outcomes tell a mixed story. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, 47% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, which is below the Lincolnshire local authority average of 57%. That places the school 180th out of 280 primary schools in the county, and 21st out of 32 in the South Holland district. On individual subjects, reading was the strongest area, with 73% of pupils meeting the expected standard and 33% reaching the higher standard. Maths was weaker, with 60% at the expected level and 27% at the higher standard, while writing saw 60% at expected and none at the higher level. No pupil achieved the higher standard across all three subjects.
Despite the overall rating, the Ofsted breakdown shows several areas still rated Good, including early years provision, personal development, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management. The quality of education was the only area judged as Requires improvement. Parent feedback, collected between September 2024 and September 2025, was broadly positive: 82% of the 28 respondents would recommend the school. Strong majorities agreed that their child is happy (89% strongly agree or agree) and feels safe (85% strongly agree or agree). However, there were notable pockets of dissatisfaction — 15% strongly disagreed that bullying is dealt with quickly and effectively, and 15% strongly disagreed that concerns are dealt with properly. The school has capacity for 105 pupils and currently has 103 on roll, with 27.2% eligible for free school meals. It was oversubscribed for the 2025/26 intake, receiving 39 applications for 15 places, with 14 first-preference offers made.
The school offers a range of facilities including a sports hall, library, ICT suite, art studios and an outdoor playground. Sports on offer include athletics, gymnastics, netball, swimming, rounders, tennis and cricket, while clubs include chess, book club and coding. The school has identified SEND provisions covering specific learning difficulties like dyslexia, moderate learning difficulty, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, physical disability, and other difficulties. This is a small, community-focused primary that suits families who value a broad extracurricular offer and a school that, while currently under scrutiny for academic outcomes, retains strong parent satisfaction in several key areas. The oversubscription suggests local demand remains high, but the Requires Improvement rating means it will be worth watching how the school responds to Ofsted’s findings in its next inspection.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
