About Longwood Primary School
Longwood Primary School has a strong parent community, with 79% of respondents to the most recent Parent View survey saying they would recommend the school to other parents. That survey, which ran between September 2024 and September 2025 and collected 33 responses, also showed that 91% of parents either agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy at the school, and 94% felt their child is safe. The school is clearly popular locally: for the 2025/26 academic year, it received 31 applications for just 20 places, giving an oversubscription ratio of 1.55. All 20 first-preference applicants were offered a place, but the numbers show that demand outstrips supply. There are some mixed signals in the survey data, though. While 82% of parents agreed that the school has high expectations for their child, only 57% felt that concerns are dealt with properly, and 36% disagreed that the school lets them know how their child is doing.
Academically, Longwood performs well above the local authority average. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 results, 75% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared with a Staffordshire average of 65%. The school ranks 11th out of 34 primary schools in Lichfield, placing it in the top 25% nationally. Average scores were strong: 106 in reading and 103 in maths. However, the proportion of pupils reaching the higher standard in all three subjects was just 4%, which is relatively low. The school’s most recent Ofsted inspection, an ungraded visit in February 2025, judged that the school had improved significantly since its previous graded inspection in February 2016, when it was rated Good overall. The early years provision was also rated Good. This follows a period when the school was rated Requires Improvement in 2013, so the trajectory is clearly upward.
The school is a mixed, non-religious state primary for children aged 3 to 11, with a nursery on site. It currently has 175 pupils against a capacity of 210, so there is some room for growth. Facilities include a sensory room, music rooms, a forest school area, an ICT suite, a sports hall and a dining hall. The school offers a range of sports including netball, tennis, athletics, swimming and cricket, plus clubs such as chess, film club and book club. SEND provision is broad, covering moderate to profound learning difficulties, speech and language needs, autistic spectrum disorder and hearing impairment. With 39.4% of pupils eligible for free school meals, the school serves a relatively disadvantaged community compared with the national average. This is a school that suits families who value strong academic progress in a supportive, improving environment, but who are also prepared to be proactive in communicating with staff.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
