About Ings Primary School
Ofsted’s Parent View survey, based on 28 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025, shows that 71% of parents would recommend Ings Primary School to other families. That’s a solid majority, though it leaves nearly three in ten who wouldn’t. The picture is more mixed when you dig into individual questions: 82% of parents agree or strongly agree that their child is happy, and 82% feel their child is safe. But only 36% strongly agree that concerns are dealt with properly, and 18% disagree outright. On behaviour, 79% agree the school ensures pupils are well behaved, though 11% strongly disagree. The school is clearly popular locally — for 2025/26 entry, it received 55 applications for just 30 places, an oversubscription ratio of 1.83. Of those, 28 first-preference offers were made from 29 first-preference applications, meaning almost every family who put it first got a place. It’s a school that inspires strong feelings, both positive and negative, among its parent community.
Academically, Ings Primary School sits near the bottom of the local league table for Kingston upon Hull. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 results, just 43% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined — well below the local authority average of 65%. That places the school 67th out of 69 primary schools in Hull, and in the bottom 50% nationally. Individual subject scores tell a similar story: 51% reached the expected standard in reading, 54% in maths, and 68% in writing. Only 3% achieved the higher standard in reading and maths combined. Average scaled scores were 101 in both reading and maths, which is exactly the national average, so pupils aren’t falling behind dramatically — but the proportion reaching the expected standard is low. The school’s most recent Ofsted inspection, in January 2025, rated it Good overall, with Good for leadership and management and Good for early years provision. That’s a significant improvement from its previous inspection in 2013, which rated it Inadequate.
The school has a nursery provision and caters for children aged 3 to 11, with a current roll of 237 pupils against a capacity of 300. It serves a community with above-average disadvantage: 32.7% of pupils are eligible for free school meals. Facilities include a library, forest school, music rooms, sports hall and chapel, and the school offers a wide range of clubs including chess, book club, eco club, gardening, film club and choir. Sports provision covers football, athletics, tennis, cross country, dance, cricket and gymnastics. For children with special educational needs, the school lists provisions for moderate learning difficulty, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, hearing impairment and autistic spectrum disorder — though Parent View responses on SEND support were too few to report. This is a school that will suit families who value a broad, inclusive offer and a strong sense of community, but who are realistic about academic outcomes being below the local average.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
