About Hungerhill School
Ofsted’s Parent View survey, completed by 123 families between September 2024 and September 2025, shows that 63% of respondents would recommend Hungerhill School to other parents. That’s a solid majority, though it leaves more than a third who would not. The school is clearly popular: for the 2025/26 academic year, it received 456 applications for 248 places, an oversubscription ratio of 1.84, with 273 of those applications listing it as a first preference. 233 first-preference families were offered a place. Parents who responded were particularly positive about clubs and activities — 93% agreed or strongly agreed that their child can take part — and 86% agreed or strongly agreed that the school has high expectations for their child. However, the picture is more mixed on SEND support: of the 25% of respondents with a child on SEND support, 32% strongly disagreed that the school gives them the help they need, and only 23% strongly agreed.
Academically, Hungerhill is a strong performer in Doncaster. Its Progress 8 score of 0.41 is well above the local authority average of -0.04, placing it 4th out of 20 secondary schools in the area and in the top 25% nationally. Pupils achieved an Attainment 8 score of 51.1, and 77.1% secured a grade 4 or above in both English and maths. The school also does well on the EBacc measure: 58.7% of pupils entered the EBacc combination, and 48.2% achieved a grade 4 or above across all five components. In its most recent Ofsted inspection in December 2024, the school was judged Outstanding across all graded areas — quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. This is a notable upgrade from its previous inspection in 2012, which also rated it Outstanding overall. The school does not have a sixth form, so pupils leave at 16.
Hungerhill is a mixed, non-faith secondary for 11- to 16-year-olds, with 1,173 pupils on roll against a capacity of 1,120, meaning it is slightly over capacity. The proportion of pupils eligible for free school meals is 19.1%. The school offers a wide range of facilities including a theatre, astro turf, music rooms, and a library, plus clubs from art and orchestra to debate and eco club. Its SEND provisions cover nine areas including dyslexia, autism, and speech and language needs, though the Parent View data suggests some families feel support could be stronger. Given its strong Progress 8 results and high demand for places, this is a school that will suit families who prioritise academic progress and a broad range of extracurricular opportunities, but those with children on SEND may want to investigate the school’s support offer directly.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
