About Hull Trinity House Academy
Hull Trinity House Academy was rated Good in its most recent Ofsted inspection in 2025, with inspectors awarding Good across all four graded categories: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management. The school has held a Good rating consistently, with its previous inspection in 2012 also judging overall effectiveness as Good. But the most telling academic metric is Progress 8, which measures how much pupils improve between Key Stage 2 and GCSEs compared with pupils nationally. Hull Trinity House Academy scores 0.14, meaning its pupils achieve about one-seventh of a grade more per subject than the national average. That puts the school fourth out of 14 secondary schools in Kingston upon Hull, comfortably in the top half of the local authority. It also sits in the top 40 per cent of schools nationally. Given that the local authority average Progress 8 score is -0.44, the school is clearly adding significant value compared with other schools in the area.
The school’s Attainment 8 score is 50.2, meaning pupils average just over a grade 5 per subject — a solid mid-range result. Over three-quarters of pupils (77 per cent) achieved a grade 4 or above in English and maths, and 59 per cent hit the higher grade 5 threshold. The EBacc average point score is 4.65, and 56 per cent of pupils entered the EBacc suite of subjects. In terms of specific subject areas, the school’s strongest Progress 8 component is English, at 0.25, while maths is slightly below average at -0.09. The EBacc element is notably strong at 0.4. Parent opinion is mixed: 58 per cent would recommend the school, and 73 per cent agree their child has a good range of subjects available. However, only 38 per cent feel their child is happy at the school, and just 34 per cent agree behaviour is well managed. Concerns about SEND support are also notable, with 56 per cent of parents who responded disagreeing that SEND children get the support they need.
The school is significantly oversubscribed: for 239 places in 2025/26, it received 475 applications, with 189 first-preference applications and 183 offers made to first-preference families. That oversubscription ratio of 1.99 tells you demand is high. Facilities are extensive for a state secondary, including a swimming pool, theatre, astro turf, tennis courts, music rooms, and a gymnasium. Clubs range from Art Club and Orchestra to Coding, Gardening, and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Sports on offer include football, netball, rugby, hockey, and martial arts. The school has no sixth form, so pupils leave at 16. SEND provisions cover a wide range of needs, including autistic spectrum disorder, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health support. Hull Trinity House Academy will suit families who want a well-regarded local secondary with strong academic outcomes relative to the area, but who are aware that parent satisfaction on pastoral and SEND fronts is more divided.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
