About Holme-upon-Spalding Moor Primary School
Holme-upon-Spalding Moor Primary School was rated Requires Improvement in its most recent Ofsted inspection in January 2025, a drop from its previous Good rating in 2015. The inspection judged the quality of education and personal development as requiring improvement, while behaviour and attitudes, leadership and management, and early years provision all held at Good. The most telling academic metric is the Key Stage 2 combined reading, writing and maths expected standard: just 40% of pupils reached it in the 2023/24 academic year. That is significantly below the East Riding of Yorkshire local authority average of 61%, and places the school 98th out of 106 primary schools in the area, in the bottom 50 nationally. No pupils achieved the higher standard in all three subjects, and while 68% met the expected standard in maths and writing individually, only 52% did so in reading.
The school’s average scaled scores tell a similar story: 102 in maths and 100 in reading, both just above the national baseline of 100 but not enough to lift overall outcomes. Progress scores are not available in the data, so it is unclear whether pupils are improving at a typical rate once they arrive. The parent view survey, based on 45 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025, shows that 78% would recommend the school. Responses are mixed on specific areas: 58% strongly agreed that their child is happy, and 56% strongly agreed that their child feels safe. However, only 29% strongly agreed that the school has high expectations, and just 16% strongly agreed that the school makes them aware of what their child will learn. On SEND support, 38% strongly agreed that children get the help they need, but 13% disagreed and 13% did not know.
The school has a capacity of 240 and currently has 226 pupils on roll, with nursery provision available. It was oversubscribed for the 2025/26 intake, receiving 43 applications for 30 places, with 32 first-preference applications and 30 first-preference offers. Facilities include a Forest School, art studios, a sensory room, an ICT suite and a chapel. Sports offered are football, gymnastics, swimming and netball, and clubs include drama, choir, chess, art and gardening. SEND provisions cover specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, moderate learning difficulty, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, physical disability and autistic spectrum disorder. This is a school that suits families who value its strong early years provision and good behaviour ratings, but who are aware that academic outcomes are currently below local averages and that the school is working to improve its quality of education.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
