In its most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out in June 2025, Heatherside was not given an overall effectiveness grade but received Outstanding ratings for personal development, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management. At Key Stage 2 in the 2023/24 academic year, 69 per cent of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths, which is above the Hampshire local authority average of 61 per cent. Reading and maths average scores were 107 and 105 respectively, and 10 per cent of pupils achieved the higher standard across all three subjects. In reading specifically, 40 per cent reached the higher standard, compared with 25 per cent in maths and 17 per cent in writing. Nationally, the school sits in the 33rd percentile among all primary schools.

The school offers a range of facilities including a sports hall, gymnasium, library, outdoor playground, playing fields, a sensory room, and a forest school area. Sports on offer include football, cricket, athletics, swimming and dance, while clubs extend to drama, choir, chess, eco club and gardening. The school's SEND provisions cover specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, moderate learning difficulty, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, and autistic spectrum disorder. Parent View responses from 110 respondents in the 2024/25 period were overwhelmingly positive: 92 per cent would recommend the school, and 94 per cent agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy there. The nearest outstanding-rated primary school is Elvetham Heath Primary School, 2.1 km away.
