About Green Hammerton Church of England Primary School
Parent feedback at Green Hammerton Church of England Primary School is notably positive, with 81% of respondents saying they would recommend the school to other parents. This comes from 21 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025. The school is clearly popular locally: for the 2025/26 academic year, it received 27 applications for just 13 places, giving an oversubscription ratio of 2.08. Of those, 12 were first-preference applications, and 12 first-preference offers were made. Parents report strong satisfaction with their children’s happiness and safety – 91% strongly agree or agree that their child is happy, and 96% feel their child is safe. There is also broad agreement that the school has high expectations (91% agree or strongly agree) and that children do well (91%). However, there are some concerns: 19% of parents disagree that their child can take part in clubs and activities, and 10% disagree that concerns are dealt with properly.
Academically, the picture is more mixed. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, just 40% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined – well below the North Yorkshire local authority average of 60%. This places the school 207th out of 223 primary schools in the county, in the bottom 50% nationally. Individual subject results show 73% of pupils met the expected standard in maths, but only 47% did so in reading and 60% in writing. Higher-attaining pupils are scarce: 20% reached a higher standard in reading, 13% in maths, and none in writing. Progress scores are not available for the current cohort. The school’s most recent Ofsted inspection, in February 2025, judged overall effectiveness as ‘Not judged’ but rated quality of education as ‘Requires improvement’. Behaviour and attitudes, personal development, early years provision, and leadership and management were all rated ‘Good’.
The school is a Church of England primary for children aged 3 to 11, with nursery provision on site. It currently has 98 pupils against a capacity of 119, so there is some room for growth. Facilities include a dining hall, gymnasium, ICT suite, art studios, sports hall, outdoor playground, playing fields, music rooms and a chapel. Sports on offer include rounders, football, cricket and swimming, and clubs range from drama and choir to eco club, chess, book club and science club. The school’s SEND provision covers specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, social, emotional and mental health needs, hearing impairment, autistic spectrum disorder, and other difficulties or disabilities. With 16.7% of pupils eligible for free school meals, the school serves a broadly representative intake. This is a school that clearly inspires strong loyalty among many parents, but the academic outcomes and Ofsted rating mean it will suit families who value the community feel and pastoral strengths over raw results.

No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
