About Godwin Primary School

Eighty percent of parents who responded to Ofsted's Parent View survey would recommend Godwin Primary School, a state primary for children aged 3 to 11 in Barking and Dagenham. The school is clearly popular locally: for the 2025/26 academic year, it received 122 applications for just 53 places, an oversubscription ratio of 2.3 to one. All 53 first-preference applicants were offered a place. Responses from 15 parents paint a mixed but broadly positive picture. Ninety-three percent agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy, and all respondents felt their child does well at the school. However, only 46 percent agreed that concerns are dealt with properly, and a notable 27 percent disagreed that the school supports wider personal development. On behaviour, 80 percent agreed pupils are well-behaved, though 13 percent strongly disagreed. The school's most recent Ofsted inspection, an ungraded visit in May 2025, found that standards were maintained, building on its previous graded Good rating from January 2016.
