About Chingford CofE Primary School
Ofsted's Parent View survey, based on responses from 90 parents between September 2024 and September 2025, shows that 84% would recommend Chingford CofE Primary School. That's a strong vote of confidence, and it's backed up by the detail: 92% of parents either agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy, and 96% felt their child is safe. The school is clearly popular locally, too. For the 2025/26 reception intake, it received 172 applications for just 55 places, an oversubscription ratio of 3.13 to one. All 52 first-preference applicants were offered a place, but with that level of demand, it's a school you'd want to have high on your list. Parents also gave high marks for behaviour, with 87% agreeing the school ensures pupils are well-behaved, and for personal development, where 76% felt the school supports their child's wider growth.
Academically, the picture is more mixed. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 tests, 55% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined. That's well below the Waltham Forest local authority average of 74%, and it places the school 46th out of 48 primary schools in the borough. Only 3% of pupils achieved the higher standard in all three subjects. Individual subject scores are a bit stronger: 67% reached the expected standard in reading, 68% in maths, and 72% in writing. Average scaled scores were 104 for reading and 103 for maths, both just above the national benchmark of 100. The school's most recent Ofsted inspection, in November 2024, didn't give an overall effectiveness grade, but rated behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and early years provision as Outstanding, while quality of education and leadership and management were judged Good.
Chingford CofE is a Church of England primary school for children aged 4 to 11, with 418 pupils on a capacity of 420. It has a range of facilities including a sports hall, gym, music rooms, library, ICT suite and a chapel, and offers clubs like book club, film club, gardening and drama. Sports on offer include netball, swimming, athletics, tennis, cricket, football and rounders. The school has a broad SEND offer, covering specific learning difficulties like dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, social and emotional mental health, physical disability and autistic spectrum disorder. 28% of parents who responded to the survey said their child has SEND, and 76% agreed the school gives them the support they need. With 14.8% of pupils eligible for free school meals, the school serves a diverse community. It's a good fit for families who value a strong Church of England ethos and a school where children feel safe and happy, but who are also comfortable with academic results that sit below the local average.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
