About Bromstone Primary School, Broadstairs
Ofsted's Parent View survey, completed by 55 families during the 2024-25 period, shows that 73% would recommend Bromstone Primary School to other parents. That's a solid majority, though it leaves over a quarter who wouldn't. The school is clearly popular in the area: for the 2025/26 intake, it received 143 applications for just 58 places, an oversubscription ratio of 2.47. Of those, 53 first-preference families were offered a spot. Looking at the survey detail, 85% of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that their child is happy, and 80% felt their child does well. However, the picture is more mixed on communication: only 66% agreed the school lets them know how their child is doing, and 27% disagreed that concerns are dealt with properly. For SEND support, 59% agreed the school provides the right help, but 32% disagreed — a significant minority to be aware of.
Academically, Bromstone's most recent Ofsted inspection in September 2024 rated it Good across all areas, including quality of education, behaviour, personal development, and early years provision. The previous 2019 inspection also rated it Good overall, so the school has maintained its standing. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 tests, 52% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined — below the Kent local authority average of 63%. The school ranks 20th out of 25 primary schools in Thanet on this measure, placing it in the bottom half locally and the bottom quarter nationally. Average scores were 104 in reading and 101 in maths. Just 2% of pupils achieved the higher standard in all three subjects, though 29% did so in reading alone. With 43% of pupils eligible for free school meals, the school serves a significantly disadvantaged community, which provides important context for these results.
Bromstone is a four-form entry primary with capacity for 420 pupils and currently has 409 on roll. Its facilities include a sports hall, gymnasium, music rooms, ICT suite, playing fields, and a sensory room. The school offers a range of clubs including coding, chess, science, book and film clubs, plus sports such as football, gymnastics, cricket and swimming. Its SEND provisions are broad, covering specific learning difficulties, moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, autism, physical disabilities, and social, emotional and mental health support, plus a resourced provision. The nearest Outstanding-rated school is Upton Junior School, 0.9 km away. This is a school that will suit families who value a genuinely inclusive, well-equipped primary with strong community demand, but who are comfortable with academic results that sit below the local average — and who are prepared to be proactive in communication with the school.

The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
