About Bramhope Primary School
Bramhope Primary School has a strong reputation among its families, with 90% of parents who responded to the Ofsted Parent View survey saying they would recommend the school. That figure comes from 153 responses collected between September 2024 and September 2025, and it is backed up by very high levels of agreement on specific questions: 94% of parents strongly agreed or agreed that their child is happy at the school, and 95% felt the same about their child feeling safe. The school is clearly popular in the local area too. For the 2025/26 intake, Bramhope received 147 applications for just 60 places, giving an oversubscription ratio of 2.45. Of those applicants, 71 put the school as their first preference, and all 60 places went to first-preference families. That level of demand suggests a school that local parents are actively choosing, and the positive survey responses indicate that once children are in, families tend to be satisfied with the experience.
Academically, Bramhope Primary performs well against national benchmarks. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 assessments, 63% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, which is slightly above the Leeds local authority average of 61%. The school’s reading results were particularly strong, with 91% of pupils reaching the expected standard and an average scaled score of 109. In maths, 87% met the expected standard with an average score of 107. At the higher standard, 17% of pupils achieved the top marks across all three subjects. Nationally, Bramhope ranks in the 49th percentile for its combined RWM expected score, placing it in the top half of primary schools across the country. The school’s most recent Ofsted inspection, in November 2024, awarded Outstanding grades across the board — for quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. This is a school that has held an Outstanding rating since at least its previous inspection in 2011.
The school is well equipped to support a wide range of pupils. Its facilities include a Forest School, a sensory room, art studios, a sports hall, playing fields and a library, and it offers clubs such as book club, choir, chess, film club and coding. On the SEND front, Bramhope has provisions in place for specific learning difficulties including dyslexia, moderate learning difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, hearing and visual impairments, multi-sensory impairment and autistic spectrum disorder. However, the Parent View data shows some mixed feelings here: while 72% of parents agreed or strongly agreed that the school gives SEND children the support they need, 24% disagreed or strongly disagreed, which is a higher proportion of dissatisfaction than on most other questions. With 415 pupils on roll against a capacity of 310, the school is significantly over capacity, and only 6.5% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, well below the national average. This is a popular, oversubscribed village primary that suits families who value strong academic outcomes and a broad range of enrichment activities.
