About Audley Primary School
Audley Primary School’s most recent Ofsted inspection, carried out in 2023, rated it Good overall, a clear improvement on its previous inspection when it was judged to require improvement. Every graded area — quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision — is now rated Good. The academic picture, however, is more mixed. In the 2023/24 Key Stage 2 results, 58% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined. That is below the Birmingham local authority average of 63%, placing the school 166th out of 254 primary schools in the city, in the bottom half nationally. Just 7% of pupils achieved the higher standard in all three subjects. The school serves a community where 61% of pupils are eligible for free school meals, a figure well above the national average, which provides important context for these results.
Looking more closely at individual subjects, the picture is varied. In maths, 69% of pupils met the expected standard, with an average scaled score of 102, and 17% reached the higher standard. Reading saw 64% at the expected level, also with an average score of 102, and 19% at the higher level. Writing was similar, with 68% at the expected standard and 19% at the higher level. The school does not publish progress scores for any of these subjects, so it is not possible to say how much value the school adds relative to pupils’ starting points. Given the high level of disadvantage, the fact that the school has moved from Requires Improvement to Good across all areas suggests effective leadership and teaching. The school is not among Birmingham’s top performers — the nearest Outstanding-rated school, Lift Lea Forest, is just 0.8 km away — but it is providing a solid, improving education for its large cohort of 857 pupils.
Audley is a large, three-form entry primary school with a nursery, and it is clearly popular with local families. For entry in 2025/26, the school received 170 applications for 93 places, making it oversubscribed with a ratio of 1.83 applicants per place. Of those, 84 were first-preference applications, and all 84 received an offer. The school has a wide range of facilities, including a sports hall, gymnasium, playing fields, an ICT suite, a forest school and even a chapel. Sports on offer include athletics, football, cricket, swimming and rounders, while clubs range from book club and drama to eco club and gardening. The SEND provision is notably comprehensive, covering moderate learning difficulties, speech and language needs, social and emotional mental health, hearing and visual impairments, multi-sensory impairment, physical disability and autistic spectrum disorder. This makes Audley a strong option for families who need a mainstream school with substantial additional support, particularly given its improving Ofsted record and the clear progress it has made.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
