About Andover Church of England Primary School
Andover Church of England Primary School is a popular choice locally, with 88% of parents who responded to Ofsted's Parent View survey saying they would recommend it to other families. The school was oversubscribed for the 2025/26 academic year, receiving 47 applications for 23 places, a ratio of just over two applicants per spot. 20 of those applications were first-preference choices, and all 20 received offers. Parents who responded were particularly positive about communication: 80% strongly agreed that the school makes them aware of what their child will learn, and 67% strongly agreed that the school lets them know how their child is doing. A strong majority also felt their child is happy at the school, with 59% strongly agreeing and 35% agreeing. However, the picture is more mixed on SEND support: among the 45% of respondents with a child receiving special educational needs support, 45% strongly agreed that the school gives them what they need, but 23% disagreed and 9% strongly disagreed.
Academically, the school's most recent Ofsted inspection in June 2025 judged overall effectiveness as 'not judged' — a technical outcome that typically follows a monitoring visit rather than a full graded inspection. The previous graded inspection in September 2022 rated the school 'Requires improvement' overall, with quality of education, early years provision, and leadership and management all graded 3 (requires improvement), while behaviour and attitudes and personal development were graded 2 (good). In the 2025 inspection, leadership and management, behaviour and attitudes, and personal development all improved to 'Good', and early years provision also rose to 'Good', though quality of education remained 'Requires improvement'. At Key Stage 2 in 2023/24, just 24% of pupils reached the expected standard in reading, writing and maths combined, compared with a Hampshire local authority average of 61%. The school ranked bottom of the 40 primary schools in Test Valley on this measure, and in the bottom 2% nationally.
The school offers a range of facilities including a sports hall, playing fields, a forest school, a sensory room, and a chapel, and runs clubs such as drama, gardening, choir, book club, chess and eco club. Sports on offer include tennis, athletics, rounders, swimming, netball and cross country. The school's SEND register covers seven categories of need, including autistic spectrum disorder, speech, language and communication needs, and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. With 38.4% of pupils eligible for free school meals — well above the national average — the school serves a community with significant disadvantage. It has capacity for 210 pupils but currently rolls 190, so there is some headroom. Given its oversubscription and strong parent satisfaction scores, this is a school that many local families actively want, though the academic outcomes are a clear concern for those prioritising results.

Catchment & Local Competition
No catchment data published for this school
The dashed grey ring is a generic 1-mile reference area — it's not an admission boundary. Real catchment depends on year, demand, and council criteria. We currently have real data for about 6% of UK schools and are actively expanding the database.
⚠ This school is oversubscribed — without published cutoff data we can't show how far places reach. Check your council's admissions page.
